My name is Adelle Wong, I’m 23 and I volunteer at 365 Cancer Prevention Society. My journey with 365CPS started in January 2021, when I entered my final semester of university. Realising that I had a lot more free time on my hands, I sought out to seek some kind of volunteer work that would use the abilities that I have.
I reside in the Bukit Panjang neighbourhood and was always intrigued by the 365CPS centre. Through my research, I found that the work done by the team is very meaningful and inspiring. Almost immediately, I knew that was where I wanted to spend my time at.
Despite being a volunteer that started and worked throughout the whole COVID 19 situation, the experience thus far was nothing short of enriching and valuable. The team at 365CPS has always shown great professionalism, respect and dedication for their work done and that has indeed rubbed off on me to strive for the best in what I can do as well. Through ad-hoc project-based requirements, I was able to put my useful, albeit limited designing skills to the test. In these months, I’ve designed and curated social media collaterals, emailers, posters; did copywriting and translation work; and will be working on the birthday card designs and collateral templates in the coming weeks.
I’m grateful to be able to value add in my own way, at my own pace. Even now, as I work full-time, I can work on the projects in an enjoyable way outside of work. I do look forward to the day where COVID 19 is manageable, and we’ll all be able to gather and meet each other! To the patients, although you might not see all of us, there are a lot of us who are working hard with you in mind, to serve and support any needs you have. The strength you show is amazing, and inspire me every day, and I hope you never dull your sparkle!
