Although not hereditary, genetic factors can increase risk, particularly if a first-degree family member has the disease.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong>What are the signs and symptoms of cervical cancer?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Cervical cancer often remains asymptomatic in its early stages, making early detection difficult. Late-stage symptoms can include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Vaginal bleeding, between periods, after menopause, or during or after sexual intercourse<\/li>\n<li>Pelvic pain<\/li>\n<li>Pain during sexual intercourse<\/li>\n<li>Unusual vaginal discharge<\/li>\n<li>Prolonged or heavier menstrual periods<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong>How can I guard against cervical cancer?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>HPV vaccinations \u2013 They safeguard against high-risk HPV strains and are recommended for women aged between 9 and 26.
