It has the highest cancer mortality rate among men and third highest cancer mortality rate among women because no symptoms may appear in the early stages.<\/p>\n<p>Early detection saves lives. Recent research has shown that a low-dose CT lung screen is highly accurate in detecting small spots in the lung, including early lung cancer.<\/p>\n<p>As such, 365CPS is providing free screening for class=\"et_pb_toggle_title\">About Lung Cancer<\/h3>\n<div class=\"et_pb_toggle_content clearfix\">\n<p>Lung cancer is a type of cancer that begins in the lungs and develops because of the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells. Growth of these abnormal cells can interfere with normal lung function. The abnormal cells can pass from the original part of the lung to other parts of the body, such as the opposite lung, our lymph nodes, bones, liver and more.<\/p>\n<p>Lung cancer is the third most common cancer in men and women in Singapore, and it is the leading cause of cancer death for men and third cause of cancer death for women. Over a five-year period, from 2016-2020, close to 8,700 cases of lung cancer were diagnosed in Singapore, with more than 60% of the diagnoses at Stage IV.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Symptoms<br \/>\n<\/strong>Lung cancer typically has no symptoms until the advanced stages.<\/p>\n<p>Common symptoms at a more advanced stage include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A persistent cough that worsens over time<\/li>\n<li>Shortness of breath<\/li>\n<li>Blood in sputum<\/li>\n<li>Constant chest pain (may occur in association with a chronic cough)<\/li>\n<li>Recurrent chest infection and fever<\/li>\n<li>Weight loss<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Causes and Risk Factors<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cigarette, Pipe or Cigar smoking<\/li>\n<li>Industrial hazards<\/li>\n<li>Passive smoking<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Are You at Risk?
